Primulina ‘GCCC’s Purple Diamond’

Primulina ‘GCCC’s Purple Diamond’, 2021, IR211676, hybridized by Fang Wen, Yi-Gang Wei, Zi-Bing Xin; Guangxi Institute of Botany; Guilin, China. (P. maculata x P. orthandra). Cross made 04.27.2018, seeds planted 09.20.2018, first flowering 04.16.2020. Sterile, reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, stem 1-5 cm. Leaves dark green, ca. 7 cm long, ca. 4.5 cm wide, 4-6 cm or longer petiole, elliptic with cuneate base, acute tip, crenate margin, hairy. Calyx split, brownish green to green, 6-8 mm. Length of the pedicel 0.8-1.0 cm, 6-12 or more flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, ca. 2.5 cm long, 1.0-1.3 cm wide, vivid purple, throat with some dark purple stripes. Medium plant size. Prefers bright scattered natural light; moist but well-drained & calcium-rich substrate (equal to PH ≥7.0); don’t overfertilize and overwater.
