Primulina ‘GCCC’s Purple Giraffe’

Primulina ‘GCCC’s Purple Giraffe’, 2021, IR211670, hybridized by Fang Wen, Yi-Gang Wei, Long-Fei Fu; Guangxi Institute of Botany; Guilin, China. (P. beiliuensis var. fimbribracteata x P. wenii). Cross made 04.25.2018, seeds planted 09.20.2018, first flowering 05.02.2020. Sterile, reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, stem ca. 1.5 cm or longer. Leaves dark green, full of extremely short and purplish-red pubescences on both surfaces, 11-12 cm long, 9.5-10.5 cm wide, 6-8 cm petiole, orbicular with cordate base, rounded tip, serrate margin, hairy. Calyx split, purplish green, ca. 7.5 mm. Length of the pedicel 1-1.5 cm, 5-10 or more flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 3.5-4.5 cm long, 1.5-1.8 cm wide, slightly dark purple with reddish shading. Large plant size. Prefers bright scattered natural light; moist but well-drained & calcium-rich substrate (equal to PH ≥7.0); don’t overfertilize and overwater.
