Primulina ‘Cleopatra’

Primulina ‘Cleopatra’, 2022, IR221721, hybridized by Wendi Yu, Guiyun Jiang, Yixun Yu, Juanxu Liu; South China Agricultural University, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. (P. jiuwanshanica x P. wuae). Cross made 03.18.2021, seeds planted 05.06.2021, first flowering 04.17.2022. Reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, acaulescent. Leaves green with silvery pattern, easily turn red if exposed to bright light, 4.5-7.8 cm long, 3.5-5.5 cm wide, 0.8-1.5 cm petiole, ovate with cuneate base, acute tip, crenate margin, hairy. Calyx split, green to brown, 8-9 mm. Length of the pedicel 0.8-1.5 cm, 3 or more flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 5.5-5.6 cm long, 1.2-1.3 cm wide, violet. This hybrid grows best in shady conditions, can’t tolerate direct sunlight, temperature range is 0-35℃.
