Primulina ‘Comet’

Primulina ‘Comet’, 2022, IR221722, hybridized by Wendi Yu, Guiyun Jiang, Yixun Yu, Juanxu Liu; South China Agricultural University, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. (P. jiuwanshanica x P. villosissima). Cross made 04.09.2021, seeds planted 05.28.2021, first flowering 04.14.2022. Reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, acaulescent. Leaves green with silvery pattern, 4.5-8.0 cm long, 2.1-4.5 cm wide, 0.8-1.5 cm petiole, elliptic with cuneate base, acute tip, crenate margin, hairy. Calyx split, yellow-green, 6-7 mm. Length of the pedicel 1.5-4.6 cm, 4 or more flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 5.4-5.6 cm long, 1.0-1.1 cm wide, light purple. This hybrid grows best in shady conditions, can’t tolerate direct sunlight, temperature range is 0-35℃.
