Primulina ‘Miao’

Primulina ‘Miao’, 2022, IR221728, hybridized by Le Luo, Dong He, Yueya Li, Qixiang Zhang; School of Landscape Architecture, Beijing Forestry University, Beijing, China. (P. pungentisepala x self). Cross made 02.2019, seeds planted 05.2019, first flowering 02.2021. Reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, acaulescent. Leaves fern green with fish-bone silvery white veins, 9.4-10.6 cm long, 3.1-3.5 cm wide, 4.2-7.0 cm petiole, elliptic with cuneate base, acute tip, entire margin, smooth. Calyx split, pale fuchsia, 7.0-8.0 mm. Length of the pedicel 1.1-1.7 cm, 2-6 flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 3.4-3.7 cm long, 2.4-2.6 cm wide, pale lilac. P. ‘Miao’ is a character-stable selfing offspring of P. pungentisepala, flowering period from February to April and attractive silver vein pattern, covering more than 70% of the whole leaf while a common P. pungentisepala accounts for less than 10%. This cultivar has a high ornamental and application potential with a good amount of flowers on a mini foliage plant.
