Primulina ‘Violet Giraffe’

Primulina ‘Violet Giraffe’, 2022, IR221725, hybridized by Wendi Yu, Guiyun Jiang, Yixun Yu, Juanxu Liu; South China Agricultural University, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. (P. fimbrisepala var. rotundifolia x P. qintangensis). Cross made 03.20.2021, seeds planted 04.21.2021, first flowering 04.19.2022. Reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, acaulescent. Leaves green with white pattern, 4.5-10.0 cm long, 4.2-9.6 cm wide, 1.0-1.8 cm petiole, orbicular with cordate base, rounded tip, serrate margin, hairy. Calyx split, pale green, 6.0-6.5 mm. Length of the pedicel 1.6-5.8 cm, 4 or more flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 6.1-6.3 cm long, 1.3-1.4 cm wide, opens violet, in 2-3 days turns to pale blue violet. Plant has long bloomstalks and large flowers. This hybrid grows best in shady conditions, can’t tolerate direct sunlight, temperature range is 0-35℃.
