Sinningia ‘Hector’s Variegated Gloxi’

Sinningia ‘Hector’s Variegated Gloxi’, 2017, IR171384, hybridized by Hector Wong, HI. (S. ‘Bristol’s Good Morning’ x self). Cross made 02/14/2014, planted 06/02/2014, and first flowered 09/28/2014.  Reproducible only vegetatively. Compact S. speciosa growth habit, basal rosette with 0.5 in stem. Leaves green with yellow variegation when grown with a strong light, 4 in long, 2.5 in wide, with 0.5 in petiole, orbicular with cordate base, crenate margin and rounded tip, bullate, hairy. Calyx split, green, 0.25 in long. Pedicel 2.5 in long with 1 flower per axil. Corolla peloric, upright with radial symmetry,  2 in long x 3 in wide, red with a wide white edge. Outside of the flower is white. Foliage is reliably variegated when grown on a strong light.
