Columnea ‘Trouillefou’

Columnea ‘Trouillefou’, 2023, IR231901, hybridized by Matthew Winschel, Westbrook, CT, USA. (C.flexiflora x C. purpureovittata). Cross made 04.2021, seeds planted 07.2021, first flowering 03.2023. Fertile, reproducible only vegetatively. Trailing habit, stem length up to 50cm. Leaves deep green with dark purple midrib and veins, 16 cm long, 6 cm wide, 1 cm petiole, linear with acute tip, oblique base, entire margin, bullate. Calyx keafy, green with dark purple vein, 20 mm. Length of the pedicel 5 cm, 1-3 flowers per axil. Corolla hooded, 6.5 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, striped yellow and maroon. Very suitable for introduction into horticulture.
