Primulina ‘Jade Tablet’

Primulina ‘Jade Tablet’, 2020, IR201491, hybridized by Fang Wen, Wei-Chuen Chou, Guilin, China. (P. diffusa seed or vegetative mutation). Cross made around Sep. 2015, seeds planted Dec. 2015, first observed in flowers 09.29.2016. Fertile. Basal rosette. Leaves green, turning purplish red in winter (Dec. and Jan.) when it is dry and cold, slightly thick and fleshy, pubescent both surfaces, 3-4 cm long, 2-3 cm wide, 1-1.5 cm long petiole, elliptic to ovate with cuneate base, entire margin and acute tip, hairy. Calyx spit, purple, ca. 5 mm long. Pedicel 8-10 mm long with 1-3 flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 1.8-2.5 cm long x 1-1.2 cm wide, purple. This mutation cultivar of P. diffusa shows calycanthemy (calyx double blossoms) the very first time in genus Primulina. Prefers bright scattered natural light, moist but well drained calcium rich substrate (pH equal or above 7), do not overfertilize.
