Primulina ‘Purple Dream’

Primulina ‘Purple Dream’, 2020, IR201533, registered by Haixia Yan, Dayan Tao, Qian Song, Shikai Guan, Flower Research Institute of Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Nanning, China. (P. minutimaculata x P. sp.). Cross made 05.16.2018, seeds planted 06.21.2018, first flowering 06.06.2020. Sterile, reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette. Leaves green with white veins, 9.1-12.7 cm long, 4.2-7.2 cm wide, 1.3-3.0 cm petiole, linear to elliptic, with cuneate base, acute tip, crenate margin, hairy. Calyx split, yellow 1.3-1.6 cm. Length of the pedicel 2.1-3.9 cm, 10-15 flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 3.9-4.3 cm long x 0.9-1.0 cm wide, purple. This variety  is tolerant to dry, high  temperatures, shady conditions and direct strong sunlight. It does not tolerate waterlogging or low temperatures, and needs  protection at temperatures below 5 C.
