Primulina ‘Rainbow’

Primulina ‘Rainbow’, 2021, IR211579, hybridized by Haixia Yan, Jinye Zhou, Dayan Tao, Xi Chen, Flower Research Institute of Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Hongyue Horticultural Corporation, Nanning, Shanghai, China. (P. guigangensis x P. sp.). Cross made 11.13.2019, seeds planted 01.20.2020, first flowering 01.10.2021. Sterile, reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, acaulescent. Leaves green, 4.4-9.8 cm long, 3.2-7.6 cm wide, 0.5-3.1cm petiole, orbicular with cuneate base, acute tip, crenate margin. Calyx split, light green to light brown, 0.9-1.1 cm. Length of the pedicel 1.3-2.0 cm, 4-5 flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 4.2-4.4 cm long x 1.4-1.5 cm wide, purplish. It needs bright light, but it can’t tolerate strong sunlight, which is easy to cause sunburn. Must not become waterlogged.
