Smithiantha ‘SHBG’s Rainbow’, 2020, IR201504, hybridized by Jia-Qi Qin; Yan-Ping Pang; Ya-Na Wang; Mei-Lin Xiu; Qing-Si Bi; Shu-Cheng Feng, Shanghai Botanical Garden, China. (S. ’Spring’  x  S. ’Sunny Day’). Cross made 11.10.2016, seeds planted 01.26.2017, first flowered 11.02.2017. Fertile. Reproducible only vegetatively. Erect growth habit, length of the stem 42-45 cm. Leaves dark green, mottled with light green areas, 10-13 cm long, 10-12 cm wide, 6-10 cm long petiole, orbicular with cordate base, crenate margin and acute tip, hairy. Calyx spit, green, 0.4-0.5 cm long. Pedicel 2.4-2.5 cm long with 74-110 flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 3.8-4.0 cm long x 2.5-2.6 cm wide. Multi-colored corolla, lip lobes and throat yellow, upper corolla tube salmon pink to dark pink, lower corolla tube pinkish orange to orange, inside of the corolla is covered with red dots. Prefers bright scattered light and relatively moist substrate. Excessive watering weakens the plant. Temperature range is strictly 10-37℃.
