Sinningia ‘Party Dress’

Sinningia ‘Party Dress’, 2011, IR111177, Thad Scaggs, FL.  (S. SxTXB x S. ‘Playful Porpoise’). Cross made Feb. 15, 2008, planted Sept. 5, 2008 and first flowered May 2, 2009. Tuberous, upright to trailing, indeterminate with branching. Pollen fertile, reproducible only vegetatively. Leaves smooth, medium green, 3.5 in. long x 2.875 in. wide, petiole 1.375 in. long, elliptic with serrate margin, acute tip and cordate base. Calyx double, fused, 1.5 in. long, outside pink, inside lighter pink with raspberry stripes, spotting and blotches. Pedicel 1 in. long, 1-3 flowers per leaf axil.  Corolla salverform, 1.75 in. long x 1 in. wide, light red pink outside, inside very light pink/raspberry patches with streaks coming out onto bottom petals. Growth pattern makes it an excellent potted plant as well as a hanging basket.
