Streptocarpus ‘Purple Pride’

Streptocarpus ‘Purple Pride’, 2009, IR091112, Kim Williams, UK. (S. ‘Bristol’s Red Typhoon’ x un-named hybrid), Cross made 2005, planted 2006 and first flowered 2007. Reproducible only vegetatively. Medium sized rosette. Leaves medium green, 11 in. long x 5 in. wide, lanceolate with serrate margin, acute tip and cuneate base. Calyx split, green. Peduncle 12 in. long with 5 flowers.  Corolla salverform, 1 ½ in. long x 2 in. wide, mauve background smothered all over flower with dark purple spots, leading into pale throat which darkens with age. Darker spotted edge gives picotee effect.
