Primulina ‘Cute ‘Xiao Lin’

Primulina ‘Cute ‘Xiao Lin’, 2022, IR221726, hybridized by Le Luo, Jiancun Chen, Dong He, Meng Bai, Qixiang Zhang; School of Landscape Architecture, Beijing Forestry University, Beijing, China. (P. pungentisepala x self). Cross made 01.2019, seeds planted 04.2019, first flowering 02.2021. Reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, acaulescent. Leaves green with silvery white pattern in the center extending towards the edges, 9.5-14.3 cm long, 1.8-4.5 cm wide, 4.2-6.1 cm petiole, linear with cuneate base, acute tip, entire margin, smooth. Calyx split, white to peak green, 5.0-6.0 mm. Length of the pedicel 1.2-2.9 cm, 2-5 flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 3-5 cm long, 2.2-2.6 cm wide, pale lilac. P. ‘Cute ‘Xiao Lin’’ is a character-stable selfing offspring of P. pungentisepala, and compared with other offspring, the area of white leaf pattern is larger and gradually extends towards the leaf edges. The area of the white accounts for more than 70% of the whole leaf while a common P. pungentisepala accounts for less than 10%. The flowering period lasts from February to April.
