Primulina ‘Purple Fumes’
Primulina ‘Purple Fumes’, 2020, IR201524 registered by Wen Fang, Huang Zhang-jie, Li Shu, Guangxi Institute of Botany, CAS & GCCC, Guilin, China. (P. purpurea x P. longii). Cross made 04.15.2018, seeds planted 03.17.2019, first flowering 03.26.2020. Sterile, reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, stem length 1 cm. Leaves green, 10-12 cm long, 4-5 cm wide, 3-7 cm petiole, elliptic, with cuneate base, acuminate tip, entire margin, hairy. Calyx split, green, 0.2 cm. Length of the pedicel 0.8-1.0 cm, 15-18 flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 2 cm long x 1.5 cm wide, purple with white tube and two light yellow nectar guides inside a tube. Shade-tolerant but enjoys bright scattered light, prefers moist but well-drained substrate, will not bear temperature below freezing.
