Primulina ‘Show Off’

Primulina ‘Show Off’, 2021, IR211626, hybridized by Dayan Tao, Haixia Yan, Shikai Guan, Jinye Zhou; Flower Research Institute of Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Nanning, China. (P. sp.  x  P. purpurea). Cross made 03.27.2019, seeds planted 04.18.2019, first flowering 03.01.2021. Sterile, reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, acaulescent. Leaves green, 13.2-17.4 cm long, 7.5-10.6 cm wide, 5.5-9.8 cm petiole, elliptic with cuneate base, acute tip, crenate margin, hairy. Calyx split, light green, 0.8-1.1 cm. Length of the pedicel 1.7-4.8cm, 8 flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 4.5-5.0 cm long x 1.3-1.4 cm wide, purple. Flowering period: March. Too much water is detrimental. Low level scattered light is preferred.
