Primulina ‘Zhou’s Golden Apollo’

Primulina ‘Zhou’s Golden Apollo’, 2021, IR211644, hybridized by Fang Wen, Wei-Chuen Chou, Zi-Bing Xin; Guangxi Institute of Botany; Guilin, China. (P. macrorhiza complex x P. heterochroa). Cross made 07.29.2019, seeds planted 11.11.2019, first flowering 08.06.2020. Sterile, reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, stem ca.1 cm. Leaves green with silvery main and lateral veins, forming white net; slightly fleshy, both surfaces pubescent, 10-15 cm long, 5-7.5 cm wide, 4-6 cm petiole, elliptic with cuneate base, acute tip, serrate to crenate margin, hairy. Calyx split, purplish green, ca. 1 cm. Length of the pedicel ca. 1.5 cm, 6 or more flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, ca. 3 cm long, ca. 2.0 cm wide, golden yellow with brownish red spots between lobes of upper lip. Prefers brightly scattered light; moist but well-drained & calcium-rich substrate (equal to PH ≥7.0); do not over-fertilize and overwater. Can endure high temperature in summer up to 36 ℃.
