Primulina ‘Zhou’s Zhuangzu Muscular Guy’
Primulina ‘Zhou’s Zhuangzu Muscular Guy’, 2021, IR211661, hybridized by Fang Wen, Wei-Chuen Chou, Zi-Bing Xin; Guangxi Institute of Botany; Guilin, China. (P. minutimaculata x P. wentsaii). Natural hybrid from the wild, leaf cutting planted 10.22.2019, first flowering 06.08.2020. Sterile, reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, stem 2-4 cm or longer. Leaves dark green to purplish green with yellowish green fishbone-shaped plaque, but the plaque becomes gradually weaker after a period of growth; sometimes whole leaves turning brownish red, 9-10 cm or longer, 1-1.5 cm wide, subpetiolate, linear with cuneate base, acute tip, entire margin, bullate, hairy. Calyx split, pink, ca. 10 mm. Length of the pedicel 2-2.5 cm, 3 or more flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, ca. 4.5 cm long, ca. 3.0 cm wide, vivid purple, corolla throat and inside with some dark purple stripes. Medium plant size. Prefers bright scattered natural light but can stand strong sunlight; moist but well-drained & calcium-rich substrate (equal to PH ≥7.0); don’t overfertilize and overwater.
