Primulina ‘Hua Xian’

Primulina ‘Hua Xian’, 2021, IR211575, hybridized by Haixia Yan, Zhijing Qiu, Shikai Guan, Dayan Tao, Flower Research Institute of Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Nanning; Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, Shenzhen, China. (P. ‘Fall Dancer’ x P. spinulosa). Cross made 10.24.2019, seeds planted 12.20.2019, first flowering 01.10.2021. Sterile, reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, acaulescent. Leaves green, 4.9-7.0 cm long, 2.2-3.0 cm wide, 1.0-2.0 cm petiole, elliptic, with cuneate base, acute tip, entire margin, hairy. Calyx split, purple-red, 0.2-0.3 cm. Length of the pedicel 1.0-1.7 cm, 2-6 flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 3.0-3.5 cm long x 1.1-1.2 cm wide, purple. The potting medium must be loose, well draining with good aeration. Needs bright light.
