Primulina ‘Purple Butterfly’

Primulina ‘Purple Butterfly’, 2021, IR211633, hybridized by Haixia Yan, Shikai Guan, Qian Song, Dayan Tao; Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Nanning, China. (P. guizhongensis x P. lijiangensis). Cross made 09.26.2019, seeds planted 11.25.2019, first flowering 07.29.2021. Sterile, reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, acaulescent. Leaves light green, 8.5-9.9 cm long, 4.6-4.9 cm wide, 7.0-9.9 cm petiole, elliptic with cuneate base, acute tip, crenate to serrate margin, hairy. Calyx split, green, 1.2-1.4 cm. Length of the pedicel 2.1-2.3 cm, 10 flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 3.5-3.8 cm long x 1.2-1.3 cm wide, purple. The plants are suitable for the scattered light, but sensitive to direct light. It needs both water-retaining and breathable grow medium.
