Primulina ‘The Smurfs’

Primulina ‘The Smurfs’, 2020, IR201540, hybridized by Le Luo, Dong He, Xiaoyan Yao, Qixiang Zhang, Yingying Shi, Beijing Forestry University, Beijing, China. (P. linearifolia x P. fimbrisepala). Cross made in 2017, seeds planted 2017, first flowering in 2018. Reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette. Leaves light green, 8.7-12 cm long, 2.6-4.9cm wide, 2 cm petiole, linear, with cuneate base, acute to acuminate tip, entire margin, hairy. Calyx split, light green 0.1-0.15 cm. Length of the pedicel 1.5-2.5 cm, 4-8 flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 2.0-3.6 cm long x 0.8-1.0 cm wide, pale lilac. This cultivar is a very heavy bloomer with a dense head of flowers, flowering period is in February-March, quite drought resistant and the leaves are not brittle.
