Achimenes ‘SRG’s Genesis’

Achimenes ‘SRG’s Genesis’ 2022, IR221791, hybridized by Serge Saliba, Bucharest, Romania. (A. HS-011-2008 x A. ‘Iona’). Cross made 05.2009, seeds planted 02.2010, first flowering 08.2010. Sterile, reproducible only vegetatively. Erect to trailing habit, stem length 20-25 cm. Leaves green, 4 cm long, 4 cm wide, 2 cm petiole, ovate, acute tip, serrate margin. Calyx split, green, length 4 mm, length of the pedicel 2 cm, 4 flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, double, 3 cm long, 5 cm wide, purple with central petals staying closed and forming a white “egg”. This variety makes an attractive cascading plant.
