Episcia ‘GV’s Kerala Velvet’ 2022, IR221708, hybridized by Gayathri Valsala, Kollam, Kerala, India. (E. ‘Joy’s Snowball’ x E. ‘Lady Amazon’). Cross made 10.02.2020, seeds planted 12.04.2020, first flowering 12.29.2021. Fertile, reproducible only vegetatively. Basal rosette, stem 8 cm. Leaves velvety black with pink and green veins, 16.5 cm long, 10.5 cm wide, 7 cm petiole, ovate with cuneate base, acute tip, crenate margin, bullate, hairy. Calyx split, brown, 10 mm. Length of the pedicel 4.5 cm, 3 flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 2.8 cm long, 2.5 cm wide, red (orange).
